The Various Designs Behind Ralph Lauren Polo Shirts

The creator of Ralph Lauren polo shirts began his endeavor of creating this popular polo in 1972, complete with the Polo emblem that is still popular today. It first came out in 24 colors, but is now created in only 17. There are over 35 boutiques across the United States that carry these famous polos. Ralph Lauren was originally born in The Bronx, New York as Ralph Rueben Lifshitz. His brother changed his own and Ralph’s last name to ‘Lauren’ when Ralph was 16 years old.

The name ‘Ralph Lauren’ has since become a household word among fashion conscious people all across the world. Polo shirts by this famous name are available for both men and women, in long and short sleeves as well. For men, there are classic-fit big pony polos, slim custom-fit big pony and regular polos, classic-fit mesh polos, and classic & custom-fit long-sleeved polos. Besides the regular polo attire for everyday wear, there are Olympic Games and Match Stripe polos.

There is a “create your own” option for both men and women to design a polo with the desired color, size, embroidery color, and monogrammed name of choice. Women’s Ralph Lauren polo shirts also come in the big pony version, classic-fit and skinny-fit polos, long-sleeved beaded ski or crest polos, long or short sleeved silver crest polos, USA shield polos, and even a dip-dyed version of the big pony skinny polo. All of these polos are made from a breathable stretch cotton mesh for ultra comfort.

These popular polos are available not only in the retail stores that sell them directly, but also in outlet and online stores. Outlet stores offer lower prices on many items that are sold in the retail stores, while there are websites that advertise the sale of polos from Ralph Lauren at an even lower price. These are usually still genuine designer polos, but at a much lower cost. The quality is still the same, there’s just the ability to buy more shirts for the same cost of purchasing only a few in the boutiques.

There are always knock-offs of the real thing, when it comes to designer clothing and it isn’t any different with Ralph Lauren polo shirts. The main things to look for on a fake polo are the threads showing in the back of the tag, sloppy stitching on the back of the horse insignia, and stitching showing on the inside of the shoulder seam. While the overall appearance is very similar between these two shirts, the construction of the fake is of a much lower quality.

The main difference, the one that truly counts, is the durability of the garments. The knock-off polo isn’t going to hold up to everyday wear and tear like the true Ralph Lauren product will. The care in craftsmanship just isn’t the same on the knock-off style. There are plenty of ways to find discounted designer clothes without resorting to versions that aren’t only cheaper in price, but also in the way they were manufactured.
